Frequently Asked Questions
How do I install the extension?
Visit the Chrome Web Store page for ReadTheRoom and click "Add to Chrome". Once installed, navigate to any LinkedIn profile and the ReadTheRoom panel will appear. You'll need to sign in with your ReadTheRoom account to start analysing profiles.
The extension isn't showing on LinkedIn. What should I do?
First, make sure you're on a LinkedIn profile page (a URL like linkedin.com/in/...). Try refreshing the page. If the panel still doesn't appear, check that the extension is enabled in chrome://extensions. If the issue persists, try removing and reinstalling the extension, then sign in again.
What data does ReadTheRoom collect?
When you initiate an analysis, the extension reads publicly visible data from the LinkedIn profile you're viewing — such as name, headline, experience, education, skills, and posts. This data is sent to our servers for AI analysis. We also collect your account email for authentication and anonymised usage analytics. See our Privacy Policy for full details.
How do credits work?
Each profile analysis uses credits from your monthly allowance. Your credit balance resets at the start of each billing cycle. You can check your remaining credits in the extension popup or on your dashboard. Different analysis tiers (Lite and Max) use different amounts of credits.
How do I cancel my subscription?
You can manage your subscription from the Settings page on your dashboard. Click "Manage Subscription" to access the billing portal where you can cancel, change plans, or update payment details. If you need assistance, email us at support@readtheroom.me.
Can I delete my data?
Yes. You can request deletion of your account and all associated data by emailing privacy@readtheroom.me. We will process your request within 30 days. Profile analysis snapshots are also automatically deleted based on their TTL (time-to-live) policy.
I'm getting an "update required" message. What do I do?
This means your extension version is outdated. Chrome usually updates extensions automatically, but you can force an update by going to chrome://extensions, enabling "Developer mode", and clicking "Update". If the message persists, try removing and reinstalling the extension from the Chrome Web Store.
